DIY Egg Carton Tulips
Wondering what to do with your empty egg cartons? We have the perfect DIY for you! Upcycle your old egg carton into a cute decoration for your home. It is a great DIY activity for parents, kids, and babysitter to do together! Plus, you can also gift your homemade flowers to your family and friends! Let’s get started!
Depending on the age of the child, some steps may not be appropriate, however, during those steps, kids can prepare and play with the paint.
All you need is:
- Egg carton(s) - based on how many tulips you want to create!
- Glitter (optional)
- Pipe cleaners
To start, separate the top of the egg carton from the bottom by tearing the lid off. We will only use the bottom part of the carton which holds the eggs for this craft.
Next, cut out all the middle parts of the carton which separates the eggs. In other words, the tall cones sticking up. We will make two tulips out of this carton.
Divide the cones and round the edges of the sphere to make it flat.
With your scissors make a single cut on all 4 corners and let it fan out.
Round the edges of the petals and watch your flower bloom.
Once the tulip has formed a shape, bring the flower to life with some paint. We added glitter to our paint for more fun! Then place the tulips to dry.
When the tulips have dried, take your pipe cleaner and tie a knot on one end. If there is not already a hole, make a little cut in the middle and stick your pipe clearer through to create a stem.
For the finishing touches, take your pom pom and glue in the middle of the flower. And, Tada, you have made a sustainable tulip.
